What subjects do you teach?

My Uni Tutors offer private tuition and revision sessions in most subjects including most engineering courses and a full range of science, maths, English and business. Please check our website My Uni Tutors Services for a comprehensive list from GCSE to degree level.

What qualifications do your tutors have?

Alongside qualified teaching staff, our tutors have a minimum Bachelor’s degree and an additional UK teaching experienced. Our postgraduate tutors are  Master or PhD qualified.

What teaching experience do your tutors have?

Many of our tutors have previous teaching experience gained in a UK school or post-16 setting. Others are experienced private tutors or have taught abroad.

How do you select your tutors?

All suitably qualified applicants are interviewed and assessed to ensure they have the ability to engage with students and to deliver quality tuition. Our enhanced DBS-certified tutors have prior teaching and mentoring experience and will demonstrate these skills before they are offered employment with us. 

How will you process my request?

We read all submitted requests and sometimes ask you to provide more information about your aims and what you have done to improve your own performance prior to contacting My Uni Tutors. It’s really important that we have a clear outline of your needs and abilities so that we can then discuss your request with one of our experts on your chosen subject. We then match the most suitable tutor for you based on your learning goals, learning styles, timetable, location and budget.

We receive hundreds of requests every day and therefore prioritise students who pay a £10 one-off Arrangement Fee. Once your Arrangement Fee is processed, we will allocate the best-matched tutor for you within 3 working days.

How long do I have to wait before you can find me a tutor?

It usually takes 3 – 4 working days to find the right tutor for you; the sooner you get in touch, the sooner we can start helping you.

How will my tutor know about my individual tuition needs?

Before your first session, your tutor will have looked at the information that you have already provided. This might include your current grades, a sample of your work, questions that you have submitted, and perhaps a reading list. From this starting point, My Uni Tutors offer a free 20-minute consultation that will include an Initial Assessment. After the consultation, your tutor will outline your areas for development and give you a clear picture of what you need to focus on in the coming sessions.

How many sessions are recommended?

It depends on what your goals are and what you are trying to achieve. We recommend that you start with a two-hour session. Your tutor will then discuss how many, if any, additional two-hour sessions are required.

Can I book a 1-hour session?

No. Each session lasts 2 hours.

Can you guarantee that my grades will improve?

We help you by providing the right tutor to give you the support you need to improve your own grades. But your grades are down to you and the work you put in during and after your sessions.

When should I pay for my first session?

You are requested to make payment 48 hours before your session begins. If payment is not received by this time, we will assume you are no longer interested.

Can I pay my tutor directly?

You do not pay your private tutor. All payments must be made through our online payment facility. In unavoidable circumstances My Uni Tutors accept cash, but we prefer bank transfers to avoid any delays.

Where do I go for my tuition session?

There are 3 options available.

  1. Online tuition. This is delivered via Skype.
  2. You can go to a public location that is convenient for you, such as a library or café. These are one-to-one sessions.
  3. You can come to our training centre in Canary Wharf where we provide group sessions as well as one-to-one tuition.
Can you find someone to complete my work?

No. Our tutors and consultants will help you with your coursework difficulties but they will not complete coursework, assignments or dissertations on your behalf

  1. We can suggest improvements to your work.
  2. We can advise you on conceptualising, planning and structuring your work.
  3. We can highlight inconsistencies and spelling and grammar mistakes.

How do I contact my tutor?

Please do not contact tutors outside of agreed sessions. Our commitment to safeguarding and data protection requires that all communication outside of agreed tuition sessions should be strictly through My Uni Tutors. Please read our Terms and Conditions carefully.

My session is over, but I have a few questions to ask my tutor, will My Uni Tutors pass these questions on to my tutor?

No. Tutors are contracted to provide their services for a specific time period that you have already agreed to. We will honour this agreement. Tutors often devote a great deal of time devising outstanding resources and activities at their own expense, it is unfair to expect this level if commitment once their contracted session with you has ended. If you need further support, please book extra sessions.

What happens if I’m unhappy with my tutor?

If you are not happy with your tutor, please let My Uni Tutors know as soon as possible and we will allocate a tutor of your choice, free of charge. If we find that our private tutor has failed to deliver the high-quality private tuition that you expect, we will offer you a free session with your new tutor.

Am I entitled to a refund if I cancel my session?
  1. If you cancel your session 3 days before the arranged start time, you are entitled to a full refund.
  2. If you cancel your session 2 days before the arranged start time, you are entitled to a 50% refund.
  3. If you cancel your session 1 day before the arranged start time, you are entitled to 20% refund.
What happens if I arrive late?

If you are late for a session, you are still liable for the full cost of the session. If you inform us of an unavoidable delay, we will communicate this to your tutor; it is at his/her discretion to extend the session, and My Uni Tutors will inform you of this decision.

What happens if my tutor doesn’t show up?

My Uni Tutors will refund your money immediately.

How can I leave feedback about my tutor and about My Uni Tutors?

We positively encourage feedback from our students. We welcome constructive criticism as well as compliments. To leave a comment about your tutor, please send us an email; this email is confidential and your tutor won’t be informed without your written consent.

Can I contact the office over the weekend?

Our opening hours are Monday – Friday 10:00 am to 5:30 pm. However, if your enquiry is urgent please send us an email and we will be in touch as soon as possible.
